Schloss Elmau Luxury Spa Retreat & Cultural Hideaw

At sixty nine, I finally saved enough to stay somewhere that let me avoid people like me. 😀 It was one of the finest resorts I've ever had the privilege of visiting, with large, clean, comfortable rooms, a wonderful spa, and very pleasant, efficient staff. Nora, the new hire, was especially lovely, as were Kersten in the bookstore, Karoline at the front desk, Britney in the la salle restaurant, Sarah in the cultural affairs office, Barbara, Kristine and Judith at reservations, and Deitmar, of course. La Salle and Summit Restaurants were wonderful. The winter classical festival also gave us three days of exceptional chamber music recitals in 2026. The only real downsides were the room lighting and heating. Both were very high tech, and I had to leave the basic lights on all day so they'd work properly when I came in at night. I couldn't figure out how to adjust the temperature except by opening and closing the windows, though that worked out quite well. The free weights in the exercise room were fabulous, but the fixed weights weren't. You could improvise for arms, but the equipment made leg stretches, strengthening, and flexing impossible. I look forward to returning! 4.7 stars

We stayed as a family and, even though we've had better rooms elsewhere, this was one of the best hotel experiences we've ever had. Everything is genuinely focused on the guest. They seem happy to help with whatever you need, and nothing feels like too much. It's more than a hotel, it's a real sports and cultural center.

What stands out most is the atmosphere at Schloss Elmau. It feels like home, but the beauty and attention to detail keep surprising you. The mountain scenery is breathtaking, and there's real peace and quiet alongside world-class luxury. Service is outstanding, warm and attentive without getting in the way. The spacious rooms are beautifully designed and very comfortable. The spa and wellness areas are exceptional, with several pools, saunas, and places to relax and truly switch off. The food is remarkable too, with outstanding meals from breakfast through dinner. It's a wonderful place for relaxation, inspiration, and unforgettable memories. I can't recommend this hotel enough and already look forward to returning.

Nature in all its wonders accompanies you during a stay at Elmau. The grounds, the history, and the generous team all made this an inspiring visit. It felt holistic, magical, and transformative, almost like a spa treatment for the soul. Thanks to everyone who made this unique moment happen for us. Days later, we're still floating on a cloud.
