Hotel am Sendlinger Tor

The staff were friendly and helpful, though they seemed a little inexperienced. We stayed four nights during Weisn. It’s affordable and might do if you just need a place to sleep, but I wouldn’t recommend it for a reasonably clean and tidy stay. Basic maintenance has been neglected. Water slowly leaks through the ceiling in several places. The shower stalls look so poorly installed that I suspect there may be drainage issues on each floor, leading to the leaks. Mold has formed, and it looks like they tried to fix it by spreading drywall compound over it, which only makes things worse. I’m not sure how hazardous breathing it in for a long time might be, but guests shouldn’t have mold in their rooms. The result is a constant musty, unpleasant smell. Our shower curtain was dirty, as were our sheets. It looked like they’d put a clean cover over an old comforter. The HVAC was dirty too. The building needs renovation.

We eventually got moved to a larger room, but the original problems made it impossible for me to give this place more than one star. There was garbage on the walls and huge gashes in the bathroom door. A dark red stain on the bed sheets was there from the start. I told staff, but housekeeping didn’t change them, they just put another sheet over the stained one. There’s no one at the desk 24/7, so I kept having to wait until morning to report things. This place was absolutely disgusting. Don’t stay here.

It’s in a good location, but I probably wouldn’t give it two stars, maybe one. The room was clean and the pillow comfortable, but the bed itself wasn’t comfortable at all. The bathroom was tiny, and there was so much noise from nearby rooms. You could hear people talking and everyone’s toilets flushing. The receptionists didn’t know anything about the city or what to do there, so don’t bother asking them for tips.

The front desk staff were friendly and helpful, despite what felt like the ownership’s best efforts to treat guests poorly. Over my three-night stay, there were unclean rooms, dirty sheets, poor ventilation, and construction starting at 7:30 am on a Saturday. The cleaners were obnoxious, too. One star doesn’t cover how dismayed I am. I’d give zero if I could. Avoid it if possible. The photos online are hand-picked and don’t reflect what your stay will be like.
