Hotel Amba

This place felt more like a hostel than a hotel, and I wouldn’t recommend staying here. The room had a torn travel bed or mattress, a bad smell, a dirty bed, and constant noise from other rooms. There was no fan or air conditioning, and even finding the lift was confusing and inconvenient. The problems just kept piling up.

The location is great, and if you’re travelling alone and need a budget stay under 50 Euro near the train station, it could still work for one night. There was a slight smell in the room, though, and the cleanliness wasn’t up to the standard of good hotels.

I usually don’t feel comfortable staying anywhere but my own home, but I was very pleased with how clean the rooms were. The people at reception were very polite, too. With the metro and train station directly across the street, getting around is easy. Thank you.

We booked a room for four people in August 2025, mainly because the staff were friendly and it’s so easy to get to the train station. We arrived and left by train, so the access worked really well for us. Overall, it was a great experience. It was very hot in summer and there was no AC, but keeping the window open was manageable. We could hear people shouting from nearby bars and trams going past, though. The bathroom was clean but needs an upgrade. My one real reservation is the surrounding area. It felt a bit sketchy, and with so many strip clubs nearby I wouldn’t really recommend the hotel to families with children.
