Hotel HM Dunas Blancas

We upgraded to a rooftop room and loved the great view and secluded rooftop terrace. The pool areas were great, too, with lots of space. The beach and Main Street are about two minutes away, so the location worked really well. Breakfast was a 10 out of 10, with everything from local food to muesli and fresh fruit. The staff were amazing, helpful, and accommodating. 10 out of 10 for the experience.

The location was the main positive, close to the beach, bars, and restaurants. The pool bar food was passable, and our room was clean and spacious. But that didn't make up for the stay. The toilet had no sink of its own, with the sink oddly placed in the main room, which felt inconvenient and unhygienic. We booked as a couple through Jet2 knowing the hotel was billed as lively, but what we found felt chaotic, inappropriate, and unmanaged. On the first day, young German men took over the pool area, shouting and behaving vulgarly. One pulled another man's shorts down and touched him inappropriately in front of guests, including women and children. Another day, a different group chanted, shouted, and drank heavily in the pool, making it impossible to enjoy the facilities. Staff didn't intervene. Guests also played their own music loudly from speakers by the pool and on balconies, clashing with the hotel's music and spoiling any chance to relax. Again, nobody acted. These disruptive groups even seemed to get preferential treatment, including free bar snacks, while everyone else had to put up with their behavior. The reception lift was unreliable, often stalling or refusing to open until we pressed the button repeatedly. Our TV had no working English channels. Doors slammed constantly, and shouting went on late into the night. The hotel seemed to cater almost exclusively to German guests, from the newspapers at the bar to breakfast, which was lukewarm and uninspired. I understand a lively resort attracts a certain crowd, but this went far beyond rowdy. The hotel failed to provide a safe, relaxing setting for all guests. Until management controls this behavior and enforces basic standards, I'd advise couples and families to look elsewhere.

The location was amazing, close to restaurants, the beach, and shops. We stayed three days, and the staff were very kind and helped whenever we asked. Our room was clean and cleaned well every day.

Just be aware that smoking isn't allowed anywhere in the hotel, including balconies and pool areas. That's naturally no problem, but as smokers we were a little disappointed. The room we booked was reasonably good and clean, though the balcony was far too small for us long Dutchmen. The accommodation was nice, with very friendly staff who were always willing to help with a smile. If you're after a relaxing stay in a nice, friendly place, I'd recommend it.
