HM Gran Fiesta Hotel

You can hear planes overhead because the airport is an 8-minute drive away, though you get used to it. The beds are very firm, which I strongly dislike, but that's just me. Breakfast had plenty of choice and was very fresh, though it could have been hotter. There were plenty of sunbeds, and a lifeguard was there for most of the day. The rooms are spacious, with balconies, right across from the beautiful beach. Everything was ultra clean, and the staff were pleasant and accommodating. The whole area is immaculately clean, with road sweeping daily and bins emptied at 7am every day. There's a well lit promenade and flat walking surface along the very long beachfront.

I can't recommend this hotel. We had first booked HM Tropical, then were rebooked to HM Gran Fiestas. The rooms smelled bad, especially the sanitary facilities, and the food was very cheap tin food. Service was poor. There are much better hotels for the price.

They moved us to a room on a higher floor, and it was a little better, but these problems shouldn't have happened at all. The buffet was good, though it costs an extra €24 per person. Since the hotel is already expensive, the cleanliness and comfort were far below what we expected, and the value didn't match the price. In the first room we found a roach and ants everywhere. The AC wasn't very strong, the blanket was thin, and the whole place smelled strongly of pesticide, which clearly showed they have an insect problem. It was a disappointing stay.

Parking was a major headache because the hotel didn't communicate clearly that spaces are limited and need to be reserved in advance. Without a reservation you can't get past the security gate and have to find street parking, which is annoying. I'd recommend renting a car to visit Mallorca. The location in Palma is good for the airport, beach, and attractions, though convenient rather than exceptional. For a couple's trip, having two twin beds pushed together was uncomfortable, so check the bed type ahead of time. Amenities were fine overall, and the rooftop pool was nice, but it closed early, limiting how much we could use it. For the price, I didn't feel we got good value. Apart from the location, I wouldn't recommend the hotel.
