Portofino Mallorca

The views from our room were extraordinary, and the beach was just a one-minute walk away. There were tons of nearby restaurants, and we made good use of the hotel's services, including the pool and breakfast buffet. From the moment we walked in, the staff were extremely friendly and helpful and made us feel welcome. I wouldn't have stayed anywhere else in Mallorca. If I get the chance to come back, Portofino will be my choice, 10/10!

The staff were really friendly and helpful, and the location is perfect. There's a great beach nearby that seems to be used mostly by locals, plus some nice restaurants that also look popular with locals. Palma is a 35-minute bus ride away. A few things let the hotel down: the Wi-Fi didn't work, the shower door was broken, and the leather was peeling off the headboard. It definitely didn't feel like a four-star hotel.

The room was on the small side, but having a beach view and balcony helped. The bathroom was spacious and tidy, and the fridge came in handy, especially with the complimentary water inside. Wi-Fi was decent, not the fastest, but fine for email and social media. The staff were friendly and accommodating. The pool area wasn't big, but it was clean and nice. Being close to the beach was convenient, and I had a good stay. I'd come back.

I arrived at 11:30 PM on Sunday and realized I'd booked for Monday night by mistake. That was entirely my error. The receptionist said there was plenty of availability that night and kindly gave me a room. He understood it was a genuine mistake, but said I'd need to authorize my card for the stay because only the manager could approve an exchange in the morning. Since I booked directly, I thought moving my original booking should be straightforward. In the morning, another receptionist said I couldn't get a refund because my booking had stopped them selling a room for Monday. That didn't seem true, since the hotel had plenty of availability that day. I said they had a better chance of selling a room at 9:00 AM than the one I'd taken at 11:30 PM, and that cleaning and laundry would cost the same, so I didn't see how the hotel had lost money from my mistake. The receptionist was extremely rude and wouldn't let me speak to the manager. The rooms are outdated, like a 1980s Travelodge. For a similar price, I'd recommend the Melia in Palma Bay for nicer accommodation, better facilities, and much better customer service. It's also much closer to the nice areas of Molinar and Portixol. If you expect basic decency, understanding, and good service, I wouldn't stay here.
