Hôtel De Paris Opera

We stayed for five nights and had a pleasant visit. The room was clean, breakfast was reasonably good each morning, and the staff were helpful. I'd recommend it for a satisfactory stay.

The main problems were several broken things: the safe, shower door, and main door. The bathroom ventilation was poor, and condensation from the window left a big puddle on the floor. We told the mature desk manager, who said he'd have someone look, but nothing was done for three days. The radiator could also get loud at night, which may bother light sleepers. Towels were clean but heavily used, and most had old stains. The Wi-Fi, on the other hand, was excellent. There are some real positives. It's a good value, with breakfast included, hospitable staff, and breakfast ladies who worked hard to keep the food stocked. The food was pretty good, though the coffee machine was so-so. Our comfortable, stylish fifth-floor room was generally clean and had a Juliet balcony with a great view of the Eiffel tower down the street. It was a comfortable temperature in November. The neighborhood was quiet, with restaurants and corner stores, close to the train station, and near Montmartre. It's about a 40-minute walk to the Seine, through pleasant neighborhoods. Next time we may look elsewhere first, though it's a 2 star hotel.

The room was almost impossible to sleep in because of the unbearable smell and noise all night. When I opened the door, it smelled like a public toilet. I asked for a refund right away, but they refused. The bed was acceptable and the room looked somewhat clean, but the entrance was filthy. It was very late, so I felt I had no choice but to stay. Wi-Fi only worked at reception, not in the room, and when I asked about it, staff just said, “That’s how it is.” No help or solution. I paid €338 for one night, which felt like a complete rip-off. One of the worst places I've stayed. Avoid it.

The hotel was clean, but it was about a 15-minute walk from the metro, and the stairs were wonky, so be careful going up. Breakfast was very limited. I told them my stomach issues meant I couldn't eat until later, but they wouldn't let me take food away, so I only had coffee there. It's fine as a budget hotel, but breakfast doesn't add any value.
