Premier Inn Woking West (A324)

We’ve stayed at Premier Inns around the country and rated them highly, but the one in Woking has been especially good. Tara at reception was approachable and very helpful, and Rochelle in the restaurant was just as hospitable. There was plenty of choice for dinner, and the food was good quality for the price.

We use Premier Inns regularly, and the team at Woking West deserve a mention for their customer service. Lisa managed the breakfast restaurant on her own efficiently, and Rochelle was equally welcoming in the restaurant. My ham, eggs and chips were fine apart from the eggs, which were so overcooked I couldn’t eat them.

The hotel is near Basingstoke Canal, which runs through Woking town centre, and it’s a 15 minute walk to both the centre and the railway station. Woking West also has its own car park and better views than Woking Central. I found it good value and would choose it over the central hotel. My room was clean and had what I needed, including a TV, WiFi, parking, bar and restaurant, an en-suite with hot water, and a bed of my own. Staff were friendly, though breakfast service often seemed short staffed, with just one person serving. There was a decent continental spread of pastries, muffins, bread and refillable apple or orange juice, plus an unlimited cooked breakfast that I enjoyed. My plate was a bit watery, which wasn’t great with the eggs. Overall, I really enjoyed my stay.

This was the worst Premier Inn I’ve stayed at. Food took over an hour, arrived cold, and the sticky toffee pudding took 35 minutes and seemed microwaved. Tara on reception was rude and lazy, had an attitude, and wouldn’t give me her name, though I found it out anyway. Olga, the manager, told a customer to “shush” while she was making a complaint in front of me. There are holes in the corridor flooring hidden under carpet, so if you find one, break a bone and sue them. For God’s sake, choose another hotel if there’s one nearby.
