The lake was frozen when we arrived in early January, and we got such a warm welcome. The lodge was well supplied and nicely presented, with a beautiful lake view from the hot tub. York was under £8 away by taxi. We spent the days exploring the city, then had two lovely evenings in the hot tub under the stars in the cold January air. We enjoyed it so much that we added a fourth night to our original three-night stay. It's a beautiful place to unwind and a great base for York, and we'll absolutely return. We'd originally booked for my partner's birthday in October, but he became ill on the day we were due to travel and needed emergency appendix surgery the next day. Andrew and the team were outstanding and understanding, and gave us a voucher for the full amount even though we'd let them down at the last minute. I'm so grateful. Thank you.

We loved our weekend in Holly Lodge 12 and would absolutely stay again. It's a beautiful, private setting, and the hot tub looking over the lake was fabulous, warm and comfortable. The kitchen has everything you need. The paint has worn off the oven dials, so using it took some guesswork, but it didn't take long to figure out. There's parking outside the lodge, and the shop and bus stop are a short walk away. Both staff members we met were really friendly and made us feel welcome and at home.

The lodge was cosy, with rooms we loved and a kitchen that had everything we needed. Staff were quick to help when we needed something. It was a great weekend spot for York, and equally nice to be away from the centre. The hot tub was great, and we couldn't fault our mini break. We'd definitely return!

The lodge was cozy and private, with a lovely lake view. It’s also handy for visiting York, about a ten-minute walk from the park and ride and Tesco. After a day out, the hot tub was a great way to unwind. The staff made our weekend especially lovely by arranging a romantic package for my partner’s 40th birthday. We had a perfect stay and would definitely come back.

We had a quiet lakeside spot all to ourselves, with a hot tub and a short walk for our 13-year-old Border Collie. We came Monday to Friday in November, just a 40-minute drive from Doncaster, and it was perfect for the two of us. The Fox and Roman is an easy walk away, and I’d recommend it for the great food and real Yorkshire hand-pulled ales.
