After booking through booking.com, we were charged more at arrival because the receptionist wouldn’t accept the discounts booking.com had given us. We were tired from traveling and agreed to pay the extra, but didn’t have enough cash with us. He agreed that we could bring the money the next evening. At 22:00, someone tried to get into our room. We assumed they had the wrong room. Then at 22:15 a staff member knocked loudly and asked when we’d pay, apparently thinking we were leaving the next morning. We explained we were staying two nights and would pay the next evening after our trip, as agreed. He left. We paid the extra and stayed another night. The room was neither very clean nor very dirty, and the window looked directly onto the wall of another building. After we left, they marked the booking as a no-show. I messaged the hotel and they said it was a system error they were working on. Because of that mistake, I couldn’t leave a review there.

The receptionist was rude and unprofessional, and the whole thing ruined my vacation. I booked through Booking for 50 GEL, but before check-in time he asked for 70 GEL. The next day, he demanded another 70 GEL for an extra night, even though one night was originally 50 GEL. He woke my wife and me twice over this, for no good reason, and we were threatened. After a lot of arguing and negotiations, he agreed to take 100 instead of 140, but it felt forced. He said he’d given us the big room, which I hadn’t even asked for. Be careful, the drama started once they knew we were there. I don’t recommend this for anyone who wants a peaceful trip or stay. Untrustworthy. I’d rate it below 1 star if that were possible.

It’s about a 45 minute walk to the old town, or a very cheap Bolt ride. The hotel was a perfectly reasonable place for visiting Tbilisi, with comfortable beds and a 24 hour reception, which was handy when we checked in at 4am. The bathroom had a bit of a sewage smell, though that may be outside the hotel’s control. The roof terrace could be a nice spot to unwind and see the impressive cathedral, but right now it just has some old wooden pallet benches. It could be brilliant with a little care.

The old town is about a 30 minute walk away, so the location is the one downside. If you take a Bolt or don’t mind walking, it’s a good hotel. The staff are friendly, the rooms are clean, and there’s a supermarket nearby.
