The person I spoke to on the phone was rude while explaining the policy. I’d booked through Agoda, but nothing said there would be a 3000 HKD deposit, about nine times my room charge. I wasn’t even allowed into reception, and we had to search for the property with all our luggage. Nobody offered us a seat, either. The rooms feel like dorms, the bathrooms are cramped, and the bathroom door is paper-thin. You might find cheaper places in Chungking Mansion, though the area is shady. Maybe it’s better to go there and book in person instead of online.

The location is ideal for travelers, close to everything and very convenient. It’s a shame, because the property could have been great. In our case, the owner or staff were rude and unprofessional, and at times came across as threatening. The communication felt like dealing with a scammer. We actually checked in, yet were marked as a no-show on Agoda. I don’t know why they did that, but it seems suspicious and unfair. Be careful, as you might be treated the same way.

Great location, but I didn’t like being treated this way and wouldn’t recommend it. I arrived at night, so I hadn’t checked in the day before, and they forced me to write this review or they wouldn’t honor my booking. I tried contacting customer service, but nobody was available. Niiice and awesome, right? Not!

The place itself was great, but the receptionist, an Indian-looking guy, had a bad attitude and was rude to customers. He made it hard to feel comfortable. Please be careful.
