Irinjalakuda House

It’s a quiet, clean property with a view over the city valley at night, and the friendly staff gave us an early check-in. Breakfast dosa, idli, chutney, and sambhar were good, though the poori wasn’t great. For lunch or dinner, you need to tell them well ahead, so we mostly used Zomato or ate out. Nearby food places are 1-1.5 km away, and transport can be hard to find at night. Toiletries could be provided, and the hot water schedule is very early for youngsters like me. It’s suited to chilling out, but there isn’t much to do on site, such as games or a bonfire.

The garden is a lovely touch, with so many kinds of flowers catching your eye whenever you step outside. We were there for a short 3 day trip, and found the location quiet and scenic. Our room was cozy, comfortable, and had a beautiful view. The amenities were all there, and the helpful staff made warm, homely food. I’d pick the same place again on a visit to ooty.

Kathir, the caretaker, was great, and the food he cooked was delicious and healthy. Maria’s housekeeping was impeccable, and breakfast was simple, tasty, and healthy, which is rare at hotels or stays. The property feels like a heritage home, with lovely furniture and wooden floors in the rooms. It’s peaceful and away from the city center crowds, while giving a good view of Ooty center. Having your own vehicle helps avoid local travel costs, though the staff will go out of their way to help if you don’t have one. The staff made the experience memorable.

The comfortable rooms had a subtle charm that suited the natural scenery around them. Our stay with irunjalakuda felt like a real break from the usual rush, thanks to the quiet location and peaceful gardens. The staff were attentive, and the amenities helped us relax. Sitting in the garden or simply enjoying the quiet in our room, we felt refreshed by the end of the stay.
