AwesHome Villa Tower

We rented one of the apartments in this building from AwesHome through Airbnb for 20 nights, paying the full price in advance. The pictures looked okay, but we couldn’t see the place before booking, and when we arrived the reality didn’t match them at all. It was very dirty and moldy, impossible to stay overnight. We contacted them about it and got no answer to our calls; by message, they told us to contact Airbnb. We asked Airbnb support for a full refund because we never stayed there, but the AwesHome owners gave Airbnb a different reason for our decision to leave. Since the owners wouldn’t agree, Airbnb didn’t refund the full amount. They’re scammers and don’t deserve anyone’s trust.

As soon as I opened the room door, there was a strong cigarette smell. I told the owner, who said there was no other room and offered only a full refund if I cancelled. I’d flown in from Athens, and asked where I was meant to sleep if I cancelled. He never came to check the room after I reported it and wouldn’t find other accommodation for me. I’d booked months ahead for Pisa marathon and paid everything in advance. He didn’t seem willing to help me find somewhere else to stay, even though it was a weekend with very high demand for accommodation in Pisa. In December, I had to open the window and stay out of the room for over 1.5 hours because of the cigarette smell. I only noticed the mold after that, when I took a shower. Booking.com lists a "shared kitchen" among the facilities. I only learned on arrival, from a sign, that guests could use the kitchen for breakfast only, with no lunch or dinner allowed.

AwesHome Tower Garden is good value for money and a decent option in Pisa, especially if you have a car. The room was clean and big enough. Getting to the center by train or car is easy. There was just a little moisture in the bathroom.

Being so close to the Leaning Tower of Pisa made this a great stay. The room was roomy and really clean. I’d recommend it.
