Casa Pietra

The location was hard to beat, right in the middle of everything, with a great view and an almost romantic feel to the area. Our view was amazing, and we watched the night show from our room window. We were let in quickly after telling them we'd arrived. The hosts spoke fluent English and Italian, explained breakfast, and offered nearby recommendations. They also told us about the show. The room was clean and looked very new. The bed was comfortable, and the AC was wonderfully cold during Rome's blistering summer. In the morning there was an assortment of breakfast items and juices, and coffee was made perfectly to order. Booking was easy, and the room and hospitality were wonderful from start to finish. I'm so glad we chose this place.

The soundproofing from the windows facing the square was very good, and the location is excellent, on a small pedestrian square opposite the preserved facade of the Hadrian temple and about two minutes from the Pantheon. But our stay was a big disappointment. There was no staff on site. When we arrived, we could only reach someone by intercom, and a voice let us in. The room was narrow, had a very low ceiling, and wasn't bright like the retouched photos on the website. The facilities were inadequate: pointless double showers and coffee machines, but no proper bedside tables, badly placed sockets, unsuitable sinks, and a badly shaped, broken toilet seat. There was no shower soap during our first two days. Worst of all, the walls felt like cardboard. We heard every noise from the other rooms, including coughing, snoring and phones, along with people coming and going, talking and showering. Our nights were badly disrupted. It was a real ordeal and a scandal.

Dori made everything easy, from restaurant tips to sorting out travel arrangements. When a three-day taxi strike hit during our stay, a reasonably priced private transfer back to FCO saved us a lot of trouble. The apartment was comfortable and stylish, and the location worked brilliantly for a short visit to Rome. We loved being here and would happily come back. Grazie Dori! X

We loved having a room that looked out over the piazza. The little guest house felt private, and the room stayed cool. It’s also right in the middle of things, with plenty of sights, cafes, and shops close by.
