Everest Inn Rome

The bathrooms were nice, and the AC in our first room worked well once it got going, though that took a while. After we moved rooms on the third night, things went downhill fast. The larger room had no working AC at all. I’m pretty sure the staff already knew and didn’t tell us. They gave us a fan, so we pushed the beds together to catch as much air as possible, but one of my family members didn’t sleep all night. The AC probably needs some kind of coolant. Getting around the hotel was hard too. There are about 150 steps, maybe six flights, and the old elevator only works if you shut the doors just right, so we carried our luggage up. The WiFi was really poor; scanning a QR code at reception got me a better connection. At least the guy let us pay in dollars, which worked out cheaper. If we’d stayed just two nights, this review would’ve been much higher.

The location worked well for us. Bus stops are nearby, plenty of attractions are a 20-30 minute walk away, and Termini is about 20 minutes on foot. We felt safe walking there very early, with lit streets and police around. The avenue is lively, with lots of shops and gelato places. We had a good stay overall. We paid €40 city tax for the two of us over four nights. The hotel shares a building with offices and other hotels, and reception is on the third floor. The lift is tiny and feels like a service elevator, so I usually took the stairs instead. The place is old, but our room was clean and didn’t smell musty. It looks spacious at first, though it felt cramped. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, the pillow was flat, and the AC worked but was noisy. We could also hear people talking in neighboring rooms. There’s a minibar with two bottles of water at €1.50 each. We mostly used it to chill water we bought from the supermarket, about five minutes away. The bathroom drain was clogged, but there was enough room to shower without standing in the water. We didn’t mention it because we didn’t want to be fussy. Bring flip-flops, and watch the little step when you get out of the shower. The hot water wasn’t working for the first few days, but Rome was so hot then that it didn’t bother us much. Breakfast is free, with coffee and croissants every morning, and both were very good. Reception staff were friendly. WiFi was out for the first two days, but a staff member replaced the router after we spoke to them, and then it worked fine. Housekeeping came daily to make the bed and change towels. One staff member speaks Spanish, and if you speak Portuguese, you can try “Portunhol”; they understood us. The door lock took some getting used to because it works differently from what we’re used to.

We were so lucky to find this hotel. After a long drive, they let us check in at 2 AM, and Clara was incredibly helpful and sweet. I can’t say enough about how great she was. The service was absolutely awesome. The location is great too, an easy walk from everything, with amazing restaurants nearby. I 100% recommend it.

They put out a nice little breakfast each morning with coffee, tea, and juice. The rooms were clean, the staff friendly, and the location was great.
