Hotel Gea di Vulcano

They made me a big gluten-free breakfast basket with real care when I asked for gluten-free bread. The courtyard is lovely, the staff are very friendly, and the rooms are clean. Highly recommended.

I felt very safe here as a woman traveling alone, both in the hotel and around the neighborhood. The staff were the friendliest I've ever met, and it felt like staying with old friends. The room was spotless, the bathroom was modern, and breakfast was included and good. Lots of landmarks and good restaurants are within walking distance. You do hear some street noise, but closing the windows helps, and there's AC in the room. I'd gladly stay again next time I'm in Rome.

The front desk staff were the nicest we've met in Rome. They let us leave our luggage for free, checked us in early, and offered a great espresso while we waited, much better than the breakfast coffee. Breakfast itself was hearty with some good choices, and a very nice woman made coffee to order. There were a few downsides. The beds were okay, though not especially comfortable, and the doors were so thin we could hear everything happening in the hallway. Our room also smelled of smoke whenever someone smoked in the stairwell or nearby. The cleaning staff took all my towels and didn't replace them, which was odd. Wi-Fi went down for a day and took a while to get fixed, but they did fix it.

It took some effort to find the place even with directions, but I had a lovely stay. The staff were helpful and friendly, and spoke and understood English, which was useful since we don't speak Italian. The room and bathroom were clean, the bed was really comfortable, and breakfast was good. The metro and bus stops are nearby, and it was easy to get a taxi. We also walked to and from many tourist spots. I'd stay here again.
