We only needed a night before our flight, so we took a chance, knowing it wasn’t a five-star hotel. I wouldn’t make that choice again. This place uses two names, “Hotel Giorgi” and “Hotel Positano”, though it’s the same place. That should have been a red flag. When we arrived, they showed us a room that wasn’t great-looking but didn’t seem awful. We left our bags and hurried to dinner after a long train ride from Sorento. When we got back, ants were all over one corner of the bed and floor. It was shocking how many there were, and I think the hotel must have known about the issue. I politely told the front desk. The man called someone, and they told us to wait at the front while they checked. We got uneasy when they were gone for a while, since our phones, wallet, purse, and passports were all in the room. When we went to look, they were spraying raid and mopping up the ants. The bed was covered too, though they wouldn’t acknowledge it until I lifted the covers. The AC didn’t work, and it was 98 degrees outside and humid. I didn’t feel safe staying in a room sprayed with raid, with dead ants smeared around and the possibility of more coming back. One man became aggressive and hostile when I asked to move. Instead of moving us right away, he argued. He said someone was at the front 24 hours to assist, and the spray would keep the ants away for 48 hours. I said my mind was made up and we needed a different room. The disrespect over a problem that was their fault was unbelievable. They moved us reluctantly and wouldn’t apologize or accept that our complaint was reasonable. The other man opened the new room and slammed the door behind him without a word. It was so tiny we couldn’t open our suitcases because the bed took up the whole room. At least we wouldn’t be sleeping with ants or chemicals. But this room was filthy, with someone else’s rubbish left behind and feces and urine down the sides of the toilet. We didn’t complain again. We were uncomfortable and didn’t want more trouble. I’ve never been treated so badly, and these people don’t deserve a dime. They’re greedy and terrible. The cherry on top was the posted rule that you have to hand in your key every time you leave the property. Avoid at all costs.

It’s a great spot, less than a five-minute walk from the train station and close to bars, restaurants, and the Metro. The room was average, with a king bed, wardrobe with a safe, and a small table and chairs. The bathroom was large, but the shower pressure was weak and the toilet was coming away from the floor. Our room card never worked, so we effectively had a doorman, thankfully the hotel is staffed 24 hours. One morning the door wouldn’t lock at all. Despite these problems, the staff were very friendly and helpful, the room was clean, and we enjoyed our stay.

We stayed for only an hour before getting a refund. I booked Hotel Positano through booking.com, but when we arrived to check in, we were taken two blocks down the road to this hotel. It smelled horrible. There was no AC, black mold all over the bathroom, and the location felt unsafe. The room key supposedly opened every room, so anyone could get into ours. We were also told to hand the key back to reception every time we left. It is very close to the train station, but do yourself a favor and book somewhere else. If I could give it zero stars, I would. DO NOT BOOK HERE!

The suites were a bit old-fashioned, but very large, and the attractions were close by. The bed was comfortable, the air conditioner worked well, and the staff were friendly and helped us a lot during our Rome vacation. It does get quite expensive in peak season. Highly recommended.

The location is handy for the train station, and there are plenty of well rated places to eat nearby, including some less touristy spots. The staff were friendly. The room was clean, though it felt dingy and a bit run down. The bed and pillows were rock hard, and the shower mostly sprayed the wall. Breakfast costs 5 euros now if it used to be free, and there's not much to it.
