There are plenty of restaurants nearby, but as with major cities, the area around the train station felt seedy. I was there for one night because I had an early train, and it worked well for that: it’s convenient to the station and has air conditioning. There were clear instructions for getting in, which helped since there was no reception for our late arrival or early departure. The room looked shabby and worn, and the musty smell was nauseating. In a photo it doesn’t seem so bad, but in person it really was. It’s okay for a night, but I wouldn’t use it as a base for a whole vacation.

The air conditioning barely worked, which was vital in such hot summer weather. Even while we were asleep, we had to press “powerful” every seven minutes or no air came out at all. The reception was almost always empty, and the owner never showed up or helped us. The only two good things were the location and the kind, nice housekeepers.

The restaurant right outside was fantastic, and being close to the train station was handy. The room itself was a letdown: holes in the walls, black mold in the shower, an uncomfortable bed, and noise all night. There was nobody on site, and the reception area was closed and locked.

Francesco welcomed us with his specialty cappuccino, shared information about places to see, and suggested restaurants. The B&B is minutes from Termini station and close to many of the main tourist attractions. Our spotless room was nicely decorated, with a bistro-style table and chairs beneath the window, and breakfast was served right in the room. Those little touches made our stay special. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely return.

We paid 54€ a night for a super room in a great location, and breakfast was brought to the room. Termini train station is five minutes away, the city center is walkable, and there are loads of nice restaurants around. Wow, this will be my home whenever I visit Rome.
