B&B Fortuny

We found at least 50 flies and mosquitoes in the room, and the apartment smelled moldy. The owner started smashing the bugs with sofa pillows. I camp, so bugs don’t usually bother me much, but this was worse than anywhere I’ve stayed outdoors. We found another place and left after the owner said he’d authorize a refund. He hasn’t done so and is fighting it instead, which feels dishonest. Venice has plenty of other places to stay, so I’d choose somewhere else.

The only drawback was the rather noisy AC unit. We stayed as a family of four in the two-bedroom apartment with a kitchen, and found it very convenient for food, shopping, and the square. We also did laundry there, and the host was generous with the supplies.

I left after just one night because the bed caused so much back pain that I could barely walk. The room we were given didn’t match the pictures, and when I told Andrea I couldn’t sleep there and asked to switch rooms, he refused. I’d paid for three nights in advance and asked for a refund given the circumstances, but that was refused too. I’ve contacted booking four times and am still trying to get reimbursed, since the owner won’t cancel the two unused nights. I wouldn’t recommend this place.

Andreas was always ready to help us with kind and courteous guidance, and we hope we can come back. We were very happy with the stay and would absolutely recommend it. The accommodation matched the photos and had everything we wanted: a clean, cozy place with a comfortable room that was cleaned every day. We enjoyed looking out the windows at the everyday life of this unique city. Breakfast had all the things we like.
