Locanda Ca' Del Brocchi

There are nail heads sticking out of the door trim, ready to catch your clothes or skin. The AC was awful too. I had it blasting for 2 days and the room barely cooled down. I complained but never got a reply. With no sleep from the heat, I opened the window and then had swarms of mosquitoes flying in. I spent an hour chasing them around and swatting them. The hallways were nice and cool, maybe we should have slept there. They call it a hotel, but it's a B&B and there's usually no staff around. Breakfast is free only if you book through THEIR website, not a third party. What's a stupid croissant and a piece of cheese cost, $2? What cheapskates! There are very few places open for breakfast around there. I tried to find another place but everything was booked. Find somewhere else.

The staff were friendly and helpful, and the place was very clean in a great location. Unfortunately the heated towel rail didn't work, and there was no jug to make tea or coffee, or anywhere on the premises to make any. They didn't provide so much as a glass or plate.

The room itself was beautiful, but there was NO AC as advertised, and it was extremely hot for the end of May. Opening the window brought in 100’s of mosquitoes. They buzzed around my head all night, I couldn't sleep, and I ended up with so many bites. We told the cleaning lady the AC wasn't working, but nothing was done. Such a disappointment on our 40th Anniversary vacation.

We felt like we had a quiet little corner of Venice to ourselves here. The streets can be packed with visitors, but this area was peaceful, and churches, restaurants, and squares were only a few minutes away on foot. St Mark's Square took about 15 minutes to reach. The staff were wonderful, breakfast was fantastic, and our room and comfortable bed made the stay even better. We were so pleased that we're already planning a return.
