Once we finally got into the apartment, the place had only the basics. There was no cooking starter kit, just salt, and no coffee, tea, or water. It was dusty, the silverware was dirty, and there were no paper towels or kitchen cloths, only a few cloth napkins. We were given just two toilet rolls for two people over four days. The safe didn’t work, and the internet was very slow and unreliable. On the plus side, the apartment was large, the bed comfortable, and the shower warm. Arriving was a mess. We had rented through the hotel and everything seemed fine until we found it closed for repairs. A note on the door sent us to another hotel on a side street, but that place was closed too. There were no signs or notes, and nobody answered the bell. The contact number went unanswered as well. We were left in a Venice square with our suitcases and no idea what to do. My husband asked a manager at the restaurant next door for help, and he kindly called the number and got an answer. They told us to go to another square about 15 minutes away and meet someone. We went, but nobody was there. After several more calls and one to Booking, we were told to wait until 3 pm, check-in time. We couldn’t go anywhere with all our luggage. Eventually someone showed up and let us into the apartment.

We’d stay here again. It was quiet and close to several attractions, and the apartment was spacious, clean, and comfortable. We did run short on towels and toilet paper.
