HOTEL LiVEMAX Umeda West

The location was great, and my room had everything I needed. But there was a bad smell at the entrance, and when I lifted the sheet, I saw what looked like an old period stain. With so much local competition, I'm concerned about the hygiene. I probably wouldn't stay here again.

We were looking for the cheapest rate, so we spent the night here even though it's a little far from Osaka station. The room was clean, with its own microwave oven, and the bathroom was spotless and fully supplied with toiletries. The bed could fit two adults and a child. Check-in is done by guests at an electronic machine, and at checkout you just leave your key card in the designated box. The staff were very kind. It was raining when we checked out, and they gave us two umbrellas for free. Two thumbs up for the customer service.

The cleanliness throughout was very poor, and the front desk staff were rude. When we called late to check in, they told us in a very unfriendly, impolite tone to “learn Japanese well if you are visiting Japan.” An hour after checkout, we noticed a bracelet missing from the middle of the table, along with a second package. The front desk dismissed responsibility and didn't take our request to look seriously until we called the police in Tokyo. Neither missing item turned up. I found the way they handled it very irresponsible, and the stay completely changed my impression of good service at Japanese hotels. If you want a chance at a bad travel experience, stay here.

Everything you need, and the staff are really helpful. You're right in the heart of Umeda. The room was nice, though small if that bothers you.
