Kintetsu Friendly Hostel Tennojipark Osaka

For a reasonable price, this is a good way to save on accommodation. Breakfast comes with the stay, though it’s simple. The rooms are small, like at other hostels in Japan, but clean and comfortable. Showers and toilets are shared outside the room, and there’s a kitchen on the first floor where you can buy food and cook. Tennoji station is about a five-minute walk away. The hostel sits in the park, which has restaurants and coffee shops, and there are elevators along the route from the station if you’ve got luggage.

The location is clean and convenient, very close to Tennonji station. It’s quieter than central Osaka and handy if you’re heading to Wakayama or the airport. People were friendly, and the shower room is attached to the room. Free Haruka 300 tickets are a great deal, while breakfast is just two buns and a juice packet. You have to put your own linen on the bed and take it off at checkout. My floor had only three washbasins, right outside the men’s toilet. Brushing my teeth while lots of guys came and went felt unhygienic, and in the morning everyone was competing for those basins. The walkway between the beds is narrow, and there’s no dedicated luggage space, so it may not suit travelers with lots of big suitcases.

It’s a fair price and a great spot, with a park right beside the hostel. Even though it’s near the station, it stays very quiet. There seems to be a shuttle bus, but we didn’t have time to ask about it. Breakfast is free, but very basic, just bread and boxed drinks. You have to take off your shoes to go in. The free Harukas 300 ticket was a nice bonus!

Being inside the park made it quiet at night, and the views weren’t bad. The hostel also gave free access to the 360 tower. It’s clean and well priced for its location, within walking distance of tennoji station and its good connections to the airport and other areas. The staff were friendly and polite, and the beds were comfortable enough.
