NADESHIKO HOTEL SHIBUYA - Caters to Women

A few good things: the location is great, it's relatively quiet, and it's nice to have an onsen with reasonable amenities. The cleaning needs work, as other guests have said. There's black mold in the onsen, and the rest area is very dirty and smells moldy. The mattresses are thin, and the pillows have a hole in the middle, so they only work if you sleep on your back. I got only a couple of hours of sleep. I wouldn't recommend staying if those things are dealbreakers for you. With improvements, this place could be great.

The rooms and bathrooms were clean and well cared for, but the stairs and coworking room looked like they hadn't been cleaned in a while. The door to my floor had its lock ripped off. I know Japan is safe, but there should still be a lock. The woman who spoke with me was by far the rudest person I met on my whole trip. She wasn't Japanese. She seemed to hate her job and want to ruin my day too. I would have stayed here again despite the other drawbacks, but I don't want to deal with her again, so I won't be coming back. Service matters a lot, and Nadeshiko is losing its reputation by keeping staff like that.

I paid a lot for a terrible stay. Check-in is only from 4 p.m., and the reception is a kiosk outside. I emailed to ask if I could leave my bag early and got no reply. My capsule was on the fourth floor, where the stairwell was dirty and cold. There's no lift, and if you're staying on that floor you have to go down the cold stairwell to the second floor to shower. The capsule room and toilets looked dirty too. The whole place was awful. I don't know how it got a good rating of 7. I haven't tried the onsen because I expect to be very disappointed. I tried to get a refund but couldn't. This was a terrible start to Tokyo, and there wasn't one good thing about the hotel.

There's a public bath and onsen on the second floor, with the rooms on the third and fourth, so avoid bringing heavy luggage if you can. The place is about a 10-minute walk from Shibuya station's Hachiko exit. It's a quiet area that I really liked, but there are plenty of restaurants open even at 2 a.m.
