The best thing here is the location, right by the cathedral in Riga’s Old Town, and the staff were reliably helpful and friendly. The building is gorgeous and full of old character, with sloping, uneven floors that some may find charming and others inconvenient. Inside, though, the decor feels stuck in the early 1990s. I slept well on a genuinely comfortable bed, but the showerhead was loose and dangling, both soap dispensers were empty, and the thin walls let every sound from neighboring rooms through. The old-fashioned key arrangement also seemed questionable: at night, all guest room keys hang out in the open where anyone can reach them. Breakfast cost about €12, which came as a surprise because the Hotels.com booking process hadn’t made that clear. It’s a modest buffet with little quality or variety, functional enough to leave you fed but not satisfied. The location makes this a reasonable choice if you can live with the dated look and practical issues. I’d get breakfast elsewhere.

Kaite at reception was especially kind and took time to check that we were comfortable. The rest of the staff were helpful too. We stayed three nights during our four days in Riga, and the room was comfortable and consistently clean. Breakfast had everything we needed. The building’s old-style architecture is lovely, and inside it has a warm, authentic feel. You’re right in the heart of Old Riga, with restaurants, bars, and shops all a short walk away. We really enjoyed our stay.

We keep returning to Gutenbergs Hotel whenever we visit Riga, and plan to stay again next time. The spacious rooms and excellent breakfasts are a big part of it, especially with the view over Old Town streets. There’s also a luxurious rooftop restaurant overlooking the Dome Cathedral, with equally impressive food. The hotel has a wonderful Old Town feel and gives you a taste of Riga’s famous hospitality.

Gutenbergs Hotel felt cozy and welcoming, and the whole team was kind and helpful. Keita especially made me feel at home. She was easy to talk to, very friendly, and shared recommendations that made my trip better. Alexa stood out too. I’d happily recommend the hotel.

The rooms were so clean, and the service might be the best in Old Town. The guy at reception was really nice and friendly to us. Thanks to these guys for everything you did for us 😄 Definitely 10/10 😍
