Riad Azzar

Asma was responsive and helpful before we arrived, and arranged our airport transfer. The staff were brilliant throughout, and breakfast was delicious and generous. Riad Azzar was a beautiful place to stay, in a great location close to plenty of restaurants and the markets.

We were welcomed warmly when we arrived, and the friendly staff were available throughout our stay. Asma had sent personal messages with tips and answers to our questions from the time we booked. Breakfast was great, and the riad is just steps from the sights, yet feels like an oasis of rest. It was an amazing stay from booking right through departure. We look forward to coming back.

I booked this for my honeymoon, but because of tensions in the Middle East we decided for personal and religious reasons that it was best not to travel. When I tried to cancel, I contacted my card provider because we had booked through an app, but the owner ignored my requests until the deadline passed and the reservation was no longer refundable. After a lot of back and forth, I asked to move the booking to different dates. She refused, saying the dates I wanted were her busy season and she expected to make money then. She only started replying after I contacted the hotel, and didn’t reach out to me personally until two days before the reservation. She still ignores my requests and leaves my messages on read. I’ve never experienced such rudeness and negligence. Planning a honeymoon is stressful, and this woman made an already ruined trip worse. If you want easy, peaceful travel without issues, I do not recommend this place at all.

We had a fantastic five days in Marrakech and at Riad Azzar. It sits in the middle of the Medina, a maze of shops, snack bars, and street food, close to Djemaa el Fna Square, the city’s central meeting place. From there it’s easy to walk to the sights, including Quoran school Ben Youssef, the tanneries, Koutoubia mosque, Saadiya Tombs, and Bahia palace. Breakfast on the rooftop was generous and tasty, with a view over the Medina. In the evening, you can smoke shisha and have a chilled beer. We didn’t eat dinner at the hotel, though it is offered. All in all, a great stay.
