Casa Almamia

My girlfriend and I stayed in the balcony suite and really enjoyed our time at Casa Almamía. The room was clean and comfortable, and the location is easy to explore on foot. Hugo, Gerardo, and Andy at the front desk were so friendly and accommodating, and made us feel at home. The room facing the street can be a bit loud because it’s on a busy road. It didn’t bother us much, but for a quieter stay, I’d choose one of the other rooms. This is a newer hotel with only a few reviews so far, but I think it’ll be highly rated soon. Highly recommend it.

During a heavy rainstorm, the staff offered us a huge umbrella to take out with us. They welcomed my husband and me warmly when we arrived, and the modern room was spacious. After check-in, they messaged us on WhatsApp and told us to get in touch if we needed anything. The hotel is right in the heart of Roma Norte, with everything walkable, and we felt extremely safe the whole time. We really enjoyed our two-day stay, including a nightcap at the restaurant. The drinks were delicious, and the servers gave us good recommendations.

The hotel has a lot of personality and thoughtful details, with a leafy neighborhood location. Management were cheerful and helpful throughout, and housekeeping was spotless. We were happy with our three-night stay. There’s no breakfast, but good cafes are nearby. I stayed in a room facing the street, where you can hear traffic. The quieter rooms would be too dark for me, since their only windows look inward and have shutters. Still, this small hotel feels carefully designed for guests’ comfort, unlike a generic corporate place.

We paid €325 a night, which didn’t feel worth it. It seems more like a €200-225 room, and really, it’s just a room. There’s no management or guest care, despite the design-forward look. I contacted them through booking.com and WhatsApp before arrival, but they were very slow to answer questions. The shower water stopped three times on our first morning. I messaged to ask if it had been fixed and got no reply, though it worked afterward. Our window opened onto an interior courtyard with a restaurant, and it was noisy. If you go to bed at 9 or 10, you’re basically one wooden door away from a loud courtyard. On the plus side, the room was large, the bedding comfortable, and the location excellent for walking to restaurants and bars. I’d stay at Ignacia Guesthouse or one of the other proper hotels in the area.
