Esau at reception was genuinely helpful and did what he could to make us comfortable. The location was great, and we enjoyed our stay, but the room was cramped, had no windows, and the fan above the ceiling light barely helped with the heat. The mattress also felt old and worn. The shower leaked onto the bedroom floor every time we used it, so we had to ask for extra towels. On our first night we found hairs and stains on the sheets, which had not been changed, and asked for fresh ones. Breakfast was a letdown, especially since the restaurant looked promising. The juice came from a carton and tasted like Tang, the fruit was dry and old, and the bread and tortillas were stale. The coffee was weak and poorly filtered, and the service had no smile. Other tables seemed just as unimpressed. Assuming the hotel has an agreement with the restaurant, it was a shame to see them cutting corners.

The staff were all sweet, and Esau was especially nice. We had a lovely stay, and the included breakfast was great. We did get the king bed we ordered, but it squeaked loudly whenever either of us moved. I'd recommend the place and would like to come back.

The hotel is cute, especially the tree inside, and the staff serving us were respectful and professional. Its location worked well: plenty of street food, brunch spots, coffee shops and proper restaurants nearby, and it is close to the central business area without being right in the middle of all the bustle. The room was small and sparsely furnished, with just a table, TV and safe, not even bedside tables. There was no hairdryer in the room; you had to ask for one at reception. The hotel also wasn't very quiet. The showerhead fell off just after I checked in, but someone came and fixed it that same day. The window handle came off twice. By then, I didn't bother asking them to fix it again. This was my first hotel stay in Mexico, so I don't have anything to compare it with.

The location was the one real plus, but it couldn't make up for the rest. I paid more for what I expected to be a better stay and wound up with one of the worst rooms in the hotel. I wouldn't come back. I booked and paid through Booking for a Deluxe Suite with air conditioning, the most expensive option, but was given a regular suite instead. The front desk said that was what they could see, despite my confirmation email clearly saying Deluxe Suite. Room 309 was smaller than I expected and very basic for the price. There was no desk, chair or bedside table, and no hairdryer or iron in the room. You have to request those and leave your ID as a deposit. That doesn't feel like a Deluxe room. The beds were uncomfortable, and the frame squeaked whenever we moved. Noise was another problem: traffic from the main road, plus sounds from the hallways and common areas, came through clearly. The shower drain smelled strongly of sewage. The air conditioning stopped working at the start of the second day. We reported it and were told someone would come, but nobody did, so we spent two of our three nights without AC. It was extremely uncomfortable.

We booked another visit and are looking forward to coming back to this beautiful city and seeing Daniela again. During our stay of more than a week, every staff member we met was friendly and helpful. The hotel isn't high-end, but it's clean and comfortable, and the staff are wonderful. A special mention for Daniela at reception. Whether we needed amenities, information or help, she went beyond what was needed and was very kind about our imperfect Spanish. Thanks, Daniela!
