The location is absolutely perfect, but even so we’ll never stay here again. Our group of five had a weekend in Amsterdam that was really nice apart from this hostel, or “hotel,” as it calls itself. We were charged far more than expected for holiday taxes per person for two nights. The booking mentioned them, but not clearly or visibly, and the total for five people was a lot. When we politely asked reception about the price because it seemed too high, the man at the desk looked annoyed and responded with slight anger. We still didn’t really understand the explanation. The rooms seemed okay at first glance. Then we found blood stains on the bedsheets in two beds and hair on the beds. The walls are so thin you can hear someone whispering in the hallway. The doors are incredibly loud when closing because they don’t fit the frames properly, so expect noise at night and in the morning. And if you’re wondering why the shower curtain is turning brown, it just isn’t being washed.

I booked a private room for my family and everything was good. It was really clean, the staff were nice, and the price for the location was great. The walls are thin, so you can hear noise from the hallway, but otherwise I highly recommend it.

The location is brilliant, but the staff were rude, including at the bar at the back. It only opens now and then, with no clear hours or consistency. One night, while we were just watching a movie, a big bald-headed guy suddenly burst into our room, shouting and accusing us of smoking because some “alarm” had supposedly gone off. I nearly jumped out of my skin. We hadn’t smoked in the room, and we showed him there was no evidence. We’d been smoking outside in the designated areas. Being treated like that was completely unacceptable, and I won’t put up with it from anyone. I’ll never stay here again. Thanks, but no thanks. J

The reception staff were friendly and around all the time. If all you need is a clean bed close to the Redlight district and the train station, this is a good spot. Just know it gets loud outside until at least 0200.

We visited in August 2024, and a shirt and hoodie went missing from our room. We think the cleaner took them. I tried emailing and calling the hotel, but never got any response. Never go here.
