Imperial Hotel Rembrandtplein

I loved my stay at the hotel Imperial and would choose it again over a generic modern or corporate place. It won me over quickly. The hotel has a homey, nostalgic feel, and it’s clear people have cared for it for a long time and take pride in their work. Everything was spotlessly clean. I’m borderline OCD and rarely feel comfortable barefoot in hotels, but I did here. I saw cleaning supplies around as I came and went, and cleanliness clearly matters to them. The location is superb, with shops, bars, restaurants, cafes and trams right nearby. It was noisy, as you’d expect in a central big city, but playing white noise took care of it. I actually like sitting by the window and taking in the sounds. The steps can be dicey if you have a disability, though that’s standard in many Amsterdam places. After a long day in the city, it felt great to come back and crash. I felt safe traveling alone as a woman. The front door locks well, and there were nearly always staff at or near the desk. Being able to say hi and bye to people as I passed through made me feel welcome. Check-in was smooth, and everything was ready even though I’d booked through a third party, which can sometimes be a problem. They showed me to my room and offered a hair dryer or anything else I needed. They also explained how to adjust the heating. The window opened for fresh air, the heater worked well, and there was plenty of hot water for a good shower. There were lots of towels, and the room and bathroom felt cozy and well cared for. I’m a frequent traveler and have stayed in many hotels, but this one stood out and won my heart. I’ll be back in Amsterdam and will stay here again.

Once we found the hotel, the stairs weren’t a problem, despite what I’d read in reviews beforehand. It was a little tricky to spot at first because there was building work at the front. Our basic room had what we needed: clean, comfortable beds, a shower, towels, tea-making facilities and a safe. They offered a hairdryer and bottled water. I’d have preferred proper cups instead of paper ones, but the reception staff were all very friendly and welcoming. The hotel is central for amenities and transport links. We enjoyed our stay, thank you.

Such a gem. The owners are lovely and easy to reach. When we arrived, they offered to store our luggage and asked whether we needed a hair dryer in the room. They also brought fresh bottles of water every day. The room had just what we wanted: a comfortable bed, clean bathroom, space for our clothes, and both heating and a fan. At checkout they even gave us a little bag of stroopwaffel. We’re very pleased and would consider staying again.

Very good stay for a great price. The service was excellent, the rooms were clean, and they offered free bottled water. Great location too, and a great room for the price. Mr. Canada 🇨🇦
