Hotel Pauwa Kathmandu

The service at Hotel Pauwa was slow, with a noticeable wait both for someone to take our order and for the food to arrive. We ordered a local chicken dish expecting the usual authentic flavor and texture, but the chicken didn’t seem local and lacked the firmness and taste I expected. The meal and the service both fell short.

Traffic noise made it so hard to sleep, even though the location is close to the airport and Pashupatinath temple. There were cockroaches all over the room. They didn’t provide milk powder with the tea bags, which seems basic. We were told to ask for milk and pay extra for it. We booked breakfast through MMT, but the omelet, bread, and everything else were cold, even though they were kept in a hot basket and premade. The steamed vegetables were raw, and staff didn’t seem to care when we told them the food wasn’t cooked. The roti was as hard as a brick. I could hardly eat anything, apart from fruit and cornflakes. One of the worst hotels I’ve ever stayed in.

Our spacious family room was a good fit, and the restaurant inside the hotel served very good food. All the staff provided excellent customer service. The hotel is right next to Pashupati Nath temple and 1.5 km from the domestic and international airport. Highly recommended.

The road needs work, it’s too narrow and off-road, but I liked the ambiance. From the top, there’s an awesome panoramic view of the whole surrounding area, and there are a few picnic spots too. A nice place to visit.
