There used to be a cat called Shampoo at this hotel, if my memory is right. That was about 40 years ago. The owner told me Shampoo is a word people everywhere can understand.

The staff were friendly and professional, and the garden was a lovely place to sit with ginger, lemon and honey tea and a slice of lemon cake. We only tried the restaurant, but the meal was delicious, especially the chicken soup and chicken curry. The interiors and atmosphere are beautiful, with peaceful courtyards tucked into the middle of the city.

The gardens were such a relaxing spot, and we liked the coffee shop too. The design is superb, and we really enjoyed staying here. When we're back in Kathmandu, we'll return. One thing we noticed: rooms in the main block are quieter than those in the smaller block.

A quiet, green break from the busy centre of Kathmandu. The rooms are great, and the staff are friendly. I'd happily recommend the hotel and its garden.

The garden view rooms are quieter. We found our room clean, comfortable and nicely decorated, and even the TV worked, which is rare in Nepal. Breakfast was adequate, and the staff were friendly and professional. My husband had stayed here on an earlier trip and brought me along when we returned to Kathmandu. The gardens are lovely.
