Nepali Heritage Hotel

I spoke with someone at the property by phone and found what they told me misleading. It’s advertised as a hotel, but from what I was told, it operates as a hostel, and the people I spoke with didn’t seem to understand the difference. To me, hotels generally have private rooms and bathrooms, daily housekeeping, room service, and other full-service amenities, and don’t have bunk rooms. Hostels are usually set up for budget travelers, with shared bathrooms, dorms or bunk beds, and communal areas. A hostel can have private rooms, but that alone doesn’t make it a hotel. If you’re new to traveling or unsure what a listing means, it’s worth asking before booking: Are bathrooms shared? What type of bedding is provided? Are housekeeping, room service, or other hotel services included? Getting clear answers can help you know what you’re booking. I’m not accusing anyone of deliberately trying to mislead people. I do think listings should describe the property accurately so travelers can make informed choices and avoid confusion.

It’s tucked away in the middle of the city, and from the street it can look like you’re heading down an alley, so keep an eye out. The place is simple but inexpensive, with clean rooms and hot showers. Breakfast on the upstairs dining terrace was lovely, and the staff were always welcoming and helpful. If the view matters, ask for room 305. I’ve stayed at plenty of hotels around the world, and for the price this is one of the best experiences I’ve had. Can’t go wrong.

Beds were neat and clean, and the place feels luxurious for a reasonable price. Saugat was very kind and helped me with local information. I had a really nice stay at Nepali Heritage Hotel, and you can get breakfast right there. I’d definitely suggest it.

I booked a room on November 29th for December 6th and 7th, after being drawn in by the great online reviews. They showed me a lovely room, said it would be quiet and clean, and confirmed the room and bed numbers on my receipt. But when I arrived, they had given my reserved room to someone else. The way the staff handled it was extremely rude. They said, “It’s our fault, the room has been assigned to someone else, and we won’t refund you. Stay if you want, leave if you don’t.” I was shocked that employees at the Nepal Heritage Hotel would say that. They showed no responsibility and I found them completely untrustworthy. I can’t understand how the place has a 4.9-star rating online.
