Bay Beauty Motel

I’d definitely stay here again. The room was comfortable, with a clean kitchen stocked with fresh milk in the fridge, and tidy bathroom and sleeping areas. The manager and cleaners were quick to help whenever anything was needed, and we had no problems with the other guests. There’s a private parking spot right outside the room, and the price is affordable. I loved that it’s pet friendly.

We only stayed one night while exploring town, and having a small kitchen looked handy for a busy traveller. But as soon as I entered, I noticed an old couch smell, and the decorative pillows looked dirty. The beds seemed okay, so I wasn’t worried until I started cooking. A large cockroach ran out from behind the microwave, right near me, and I got scared. I panicked, slipped, hit my shoulder on the counter and fell. We asked for ice, and the attendant was helpful and reasonably quick. We’d managed to catch the insect, and he said it was a bush cockroach and that they do pest control every two months. I was glad we were only there one night, but the big bruise on my shoulder ended up in my holiday pictures as a reminder of this place.

We’ve stayed at Bay Beauty Motel twice over the last few months and enjoyed both visits. It was affordable, which helped since we had to travel from Te Aroha. The staff were friendly, our room was clean and the beds comfortable. The kitchen was well equipped, including a large fridge-freezer. The extra large private spa pool was a highlight. We also got a newspaper in the morning, and the shops were just a hop, skip and jump away for takeaway meals. We’d stay again.
