The bed was a little hard, but the room itself was nice and the kitchen was well stocked. Ala Moana is good value for the price and location, and it’s easy to walk to anything of merit in Paihia. Tipsy Oyster next door was fabulous, though it got really loud on Friday and Saturday nights.

It’s right on the water and easy to get around on foot. The place isn’t especially modern, but it’s cozy and comfortable, and the host gave us good suggestions for both dinner and breakfast.

I really enjoyed my stay here. The price was reasonable for the value, and the motel was clean and arranged in a cozy, welcoming way, even though the rooms and yard aren’t large. The beach is across the street, and the information center is about a three-minute walk away, which is handy for visitors. The person who greeted me seemed to be the host, John. He was gentlemanly, friendly, and warm, answered my questions patiently, and gave clear, thoughtful replies. I’d recommend it.

John, the owner, is on site and very helpful. The motel is older, but clean and well looked after, with parking by your door. It’s easy to walk to the ferry, shops, and cafes. There’s no air conditioning, though fans are provided.

We’ve stayed here twice now, and I’m sure we’ll return. John clearly knows how to run a motel, which is refreshing. The rooms are clean and well appointed, and it’s close to amenities with easy access to the ferries.
