Portugal Ways Alfama River Apartments

Set in Alfama, Portugal Ways Alfama River Apartments make it easy to reach the historic sights and take in views of the Tagus River. The apartments mix traditional character with modern comforts, and their cozy interiors and thoughtful amenities make for a relaxing place to return to after walking the neighborhood. Alfama's lively streets, traditional music and local food are all part of the appeal.

The apartment's location is great for exploring old Lisbon, with good transport connections elsewhere and plenty of bars and restaurants within easy walking distance. The lounge has a pleasant view over the old town, with a glimpse of the sea. Both the bedroom and lounge are spacious, the apartment was clean and well equipped, and the shower was lovely after a day sightseeing. I didn't use the washer, dishwasher or cooker. I can't give it five stars because my last night was rough. I had to get up at 4 a.m. for my flight, but there was noise overhead like an elephant pacing, and someone's washing machine ran until midnight. I only fell asleep sometime after 1 a.m. Better soundproofing would have made this an excellent review, especially since the apartments would be full in peak season.

Housekeeping were friendly and regularly took care of the apartment, towels and bedding. Management also responds quickly when the thin walls cause problems that might otherwise spoil a stay. The apartments are clean and well maintained. They're a bit sparse, but you're on vacation, right? You're right in the middle of Fado territory, so there's always somewhere nearby to go. I'd definitely stay again.

Some of our belongings disappeared while we were out, and the whole experience at the accommodation was terrible. Entry used a personal code provided by the company, so it seems someone else had access to it and got into our apartment. This was an apartment building with no staff on site, no safe boxes and no CCTV inside. Management took no responsibility and didn't contact us about the incident, even though I'd repeatedly asked the company to speak with a senior manager. We filed a police notification and wrote a complaint form. Please be careful if considering this place or other accommodation run by Portugal Ways.
