Ibis Budget Singapore Emerald

Lots of restaurants nearby, and the hotel is well placed by two MRT stations, Kallang and Aljunied. I liked being able to unlock the doors with the app, which was very convenient. My room was clean, with a good-sized bathroom, and I had a good stay. You can sometimes hear water running through the pipes, but I still slept well.

The location and room were great, cleanliness was good, and check-in and checkout were easy. The unpleasant part came after we’d checked out: while we waited for our taxi with food, staff wouldn’t let us eat inside before the other guests left. They told us to eat in our room, even though we’d already checked out. Once the guests had gone, they came back and said we could eat inside, as if that had been an option earlier. We had to eat on the luggage trolley outside, which wasn’t a nice experience.

The hotel is nice and new, and the location is good, with easy access between the airport and the bay. As expected for an ibis budget, the room was very small. The AC didn’t work, and the room was full of ants and other bugs, so we decided not to look any further. We left as soon as we woke up after one night. I’d try to avoid it if possible, though at this budget in Singapore I’m afraid there may not be many better options.

The room was appallingly dirty. After using the bath towel, I found blood stains on it, and there were more blood stains on the bed linens. This is an unacceptable biohazard. Staff on site were completely dismissive when I raised this serious health issue. All night, loud sounds from waste pipes, flushing toilets, and running water made sleep impossible. For over 10 days, I’ve tried to get a resolution from Ibis and Accor, but I’ve been given the run-around and no meaningful response. This location feels unsafe and unsanitary, and the company has shown a complete lack of accountability. My stay was horrifying and disgusting, and both the hotel and corporate office handled it with complete indifference. This hotel doesn’t meet the bare minimum cleanliness, safety, or service standards expected of any hotel, let alone a major international chain like Ibis. Do not stay here. Avoid at all costs.
