Every day after a hectic schedule, I came back to a tidy bed and clean towel, and the reception was helpful. Clarke Quay Central is just a five-minute walk for shopping, food, and sightseeing, with the river behind it and boat views that are especially nice at night. But the hotel had an unpleasant moldy smell, particularly in the lift. When I checked in, leftover drinks and dirty cups were still on the tray with ants, and the jug for filtered water was very dirty. I didn't trust it and bought drinking water from the nearest 7e. They tidied the bed daily but didn't change the sheets or quilt, even during my one-week stay. Make sure the door is shut properly, because the first time may not latch and you have to press it again. The stairs weren't maintained and had a lot of junk stored there. I can't imagine how everyone would use them in an emergency.

We really enjoyed our five nights at Jayleen. The hotel is well placed for getting around, and the uncles and aunties who run it were professional and kind. We arrived very early on check-in day, and when Uncle saw us resting in the lobby, he offered us an early check-in at no extra cost as soon as a room was clean and ready. Housekeeping cleaned the room and bathroom each day and replenished the coffee and tea. The building is quite old, so there was sometimes a musty smell and fine dust in the room. Anyone with a sensitive nose might need to wear a mask.

A decent budget hotel, with a clean, spacious room and free water refills that came in handy. The furniture is old, but that didn't bother me. The uncle and auntie were nice, too. It's about a five-minute walk to the MRT. Hot water, AC, and WiFi all worked pretty well, contrary to other reviews.

For a budget hotel, the room was fairly clean, and ours smelled clean, unlike some other reviews. It has a frosted glass washroom and shower door, and a toothbrush is provided, but there are no slippers. The elevator had a slight musty machine-oil smell. Clarke Quay subway station is about a five-minute walk away. Breakfast is optional and costs SGD8.00-SGD12.00 per person depending on where you book. It's adequate, but pricier than eating at a hawker center. Free WiFi cuts in and out and is only good for checking email.

The owner, an older lady, was quite nice, though she wasn't there all the time. We were given a free upgrade, but I still wouldn't stay again. The old furniture and dirty shelves, floor, and cupboard were a letdown, and there were lots of ants on the floor our first night. Breakfast had several options and was okay, but much of the food was gone an hour before closing on day one. After we complained, things were okay on the following days. Hot water ran out if we used it too much or several times. WiFi was horrible and kept cutting out. The windows let in a lot of noise, and rooftop live music was audible until around 11pm, I think, if your room faces the rooftop opening.
