Vintage Inn @ Clarke Quay - Hostel

A good place for tourists visiting Singapore. It’s a hostel with dorm rooms shared with other people. You can choose a mixed dorm or a male or female dorm.

This was an incredibly poor place and felt like a fraud. The hostel offers luggage storage, but it’s on the 3rd floor with no lift. I booked storage for my suitcases during an 8-hour transit in Singapore. The booking was confirmed, but when I arrived, nobody was there. Neither contact option worked: I tried the details in the email and the number on a paper behind the door. I knocked as hard as I could until a guest opened the door. Even the guests staying in those poor conditions had no contact information. I’ll ask my credit card provider for a refund, but I lost valuable time I could have spent exploring Singapore, had to take another taxi to an alternative storage place, and carried all my luggage up and down the stairs for nothing. The place also smells. I wonder what the Singapore Housing Inspection would think if they visited and saw the hostel’s conditions.

The place was noisy late into the night, with some long-term guests talking and shouting until 2am. The facilities were mediocre, and the owner, an older man, was unpleasant. The hostel was dirty, run-down, and smelly, and the online photos bore no resemblance to what we found. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone, not even my worst enemy. Avoid this hostel.

The staff and other guests were friendly and easy to talk to, and the hostel was clean. It’s also convenient for reaching major transport links and sightseeing spots, so it works for a quick stop in Singapore. One tip: the bathrooms get packed in the morning. Get up around 6 or 7 to get ready before everyone else.
