The spa and pool were the main reason we booked, so getting an email five days before arrival saying the spa would be closed for maintenance during our stay was a huge disappointment. The booking was non-refundable by then, and the two free drink vouchers offered as compensation felt like a formality. We had to ask for at least four. “A drink of your choice” meant water, tea or coffee, or the cheapest wine or sparkling wine. The room itself was worn and poorly maintained. Heating was stuck at 27°C and couldn’t be switched off or adjusted properly. The shower leaked, there was mold on its ceiling, and the bathroom door had a large dent, as if someone had kicked it. The lobby at the entrance was beautiful, but that was about the only good first impression. The TV wouldn’t connect to Wi-Fi, and its settings were locked. On the first evening we just wanted to watch something after a walk, but reception said the technician had left for the day and would come the next morning. No one showed up. After our daytime walk, around 6 PM, we reminded reception. They said it would be fixed remotely within 15 minutes, but after 20 minutes it still wasn’t working. I went down again and was told to wait longer. After a third visit and a fairly firm conversation, I insisted the technician come in person. He was friendly, to be fair. They offered us a free drink as an apology, and after more than an hour, several trips to reception, and wasted time, the TV finally worked. We expected the quality usually associated with the NH brand, but this was one of our most disappointing hotel stays. Between the worn room, technical trouble, closed spa, and repeatedly having to ask staff to sort out basic problems, the stay was extremely frustrating. We wouldn’t consider staying here again.
