Skye Hotel Bangkok

We loved staying at Skye Hotel. The breakfast was really good, and I’ve never had poached eggs that good. The staff, conciërges, and housekeeping girls were all charming and helpful, especially Bing and Berm.

The restaurant staff were attentive, and breakfast had a good range of things we needed, like rice, chicken, curry, pancakes, waffles, cereal, fruit, salad, eggs, and orange juice. The front desk team were helpful, and management was accommodating and spoke English. They do their best to meet guests' needs, including offering transport to Bumungrad hospital, which is convenient for patients. The service really felt FIVE star, and the stay was very good value for money. One small suggestion: it would be nice to have hand or face towels as well as bath towels 😀.

The bedside panel was a useful touch, controlling the lights and doubling as an alarm clock. My room was clean, with a large California king style bed made from two twins pushed together, soft pillows, and a small balcony with no view. It’s a small, quiet hotel in a handy spot near CentralWorld, with street food and a couple of 7-Elevens right outside. Front desk and concierge staff were friendly. The air conditioning was the biggest problem. It was loud and not working at check-in, and even after they fixed it, the room never got as cold as I prefer. The bathroom worked, and the shower was spacious, but the raised stone floor area underneath looked dirty. The toilet was too close to the sink, and the towel hook was right beside it. There’s a safe large enough for a laptop, hair dryer, hangers, small bar soap, shampoo, body wash, conditioner, toothbrushes, and toothpaste. No iron, slippers, or laundry service. For just over $50 a night, it’s decent value if you want a convenient, quiet place and can put up with the AC and bathroom quirks.

We checked out as soon as we arrived, and I was relieved to leave. This place felt like a “perfect nightmare,” more like a creepy, dirty medical hostel than a proper hotel. The 4.7 Google rating is misleading. I saw dirty marks on the walls and found the atmosphere unsettling. Because it’s right beside Bumrungrad Hospital, many sick visitors from out of town stay here for medical care. Someone frankly warned me the environment wasn’t safe for our baby because of the risk of illness, including from local birds. As we were leaving, the baggage handler licked food off his fingers and then immediately handled our luggage. I wouldn’t stay here with children. If hygiene and safety matter to you, avoid this place.
