Mercure Norwich Hotel

The rooms are consistently clean, and the reception, restaurant and housekeeping teams provide great service. Mercure is well placed between the city centre, the airport and the main road to other cities. The only drawback is that the Wi-Fi can be patchy at times, perhaps because the thick concrete in the older building blocks the signal from reaching everywhere.

I had my 50th birthday party in the Presidential Suite and stayed the night. The room was very comfortable, and breakfast had a great range of choices with helpful staff. The suite was lovely and spacious, with a garden for the party. The food and staff were faultless. Gill kept in regular contact and arranged all the details. I’d highly recommend it.

Gill helped us plan our dinner dance for more than 90 guests in the City Suite, with excellent advice on meal choices and accommodation options. My partner and I couldn’t have worked through all the details of a three-course meal alone. Gill was a star and deserves plenty of praise. We had a wonderful suite with a large four-poster bed, bathroom, lobby and huge lounge. Lots of guests came by to check in with us before the event. The room could use a freshen up, and the radiator knocked in the early hours, but those were minor issues. There was loads of space, and the bed was very comfortable. Once we arrived to check in and run the event, Angie took charge and was amazing too. She reassured us, set up the room, handled the logistics and ran around helping throughout the evening. The waiting and bar staff were brilliant. Rose, Jack, Lucas, Craig, Evie, Sophie, Hannah and Chloe were all great, and Gary seemed to be everywhere, working hard at the bar, dinner and breakfast. Angie and the whole team made the event and weekend go so well. Guests had lots of positive things to say about them. Gill’s help beforehand and Angie’s during the event took away the stress, so we and our guests could enjoy every moment. I’d highly recommend the hotel for a large function. After the six-and-a-half-hour drive from the Wirral, it was lovely to be welcomed by such friendly staff. The service was outstanding from check-in through breakfast, and I couldn’t fault anyone. Reception were amazing, as were the restaurant staff. The young woman who cleared our breakfast plates was a beautiful soul, nothing was too much trouble for her. We slept peacefully and comfortably.
