The breakfast was one of the nicest hotel breakfasts we’ve had. It was cooked to order, not a greasy fry-up or buffet, and there was cereal, yogurt with fruit, juice, water, fruit, good thick bread to toast yourself, and pastries. I had brown toast with avocado and cherry tomatoes with balsamic, while my husband got pancakes with crispy bacon and maple syrup. We loved our stay and will come back every time we’re in Oban. My husband found the hotel for our overnight visit, and I’m so glad he did. We arrived an hour early, and the young man on reception kindly let us check in. Our second-floor double room was immaculate, with a huge comfortable bed, thick carpet and all the modern conveniences, including a big wall-mounted TV. The bathroom was spotless, with thick quality towels and the most powerful shower we’ve ever had. The staff were among the friendliest we’ve met in all our hotel stays. They seemed passionate about their work and couldn’t have been more helpful. Everyone staying over the weekend had praise for the place, so I don’t understand the negative reviews. There’s no lift, so it may not suit people with mobility issues, but that wasn’t a problem for us. Now that we’ve found this gem, I wouldn’t stay anywhere else in Oban.

I was there for my 50th birthday, and the balloons and wine waiting on arrival were a lovely touch. The hotel is very central and spotlessly clean throughout. Fantastic service from beginning to end, with friendly, polite and helpful staff. The food was lovely too. I’ll definitely return, highly recommended.

The staff made our stay especially memorable. They were friendly, professional and always ready to help, nothing was too much trouble. The Ranald Hotel will be our first choice next time we visit Oban. We stayed there from the 25th to the 28th of November 2025, and the hotel and apartments were perfect for our trip. It’s right in the town centre, the rooms were extremely comfortable and well equipped, and breakfast at the hotel was first class. Thoroughly recommended, and thanks from Margaret, Gordon, Julie and Dave.

We had a lovely breakfast each morning, served with a smile and friendly manner. The staff were polite and welcoming, and nothing was too much trouble. This is a cracking little hotel for a three-night B&B stay in Oban. The rooms were spacious, clean, comfortable and very quiet, with everything we needed. I’d highly recommend it.

The Ranald apartments were nicely decorated and had everything we needed. The location was great, and the bed was really comfortable. We had a great time there with family for two nights and I’d definitely stay in them again.
