The Wiltshire Hotel Golf Leisure Resort

I’ve stayed here for years, and every visit the cleanliness seems to get worse. The corridors and rooms are awful, tired and dirty, with old, dirty linen left lying around. The staff don’t seem particularly happy to work here, and the restaurant menu is just a grubby laminated A4 sheet. There are a few good points: the restaurant is nicely done, the food is okay, the gym is very good, the location works well and the stays are cheap. Breakfast is okay too, though it was disappointing that there was no fruit. They need to sort the place out. It was great about 10 years ago.

The bathroom floor had pubic hair on it, and the place was absolutely filthy. The spa was supposedly a steam room, but the facilities looked like a building site because of maintenance. The sauna was barely warm and the pool freezing. Food was basic, listed on a laminated A4 sheet. I paid £160 for a suite that was meant to have satellite channels and ironing facilities, but it had neither. I’d have got better service at the trace lodge for half the price. The shower and bath water swung from scalding hot to freezing cold every 30 seconds. After two hours, my wife and I left. It had ruined our one-night getaway. I explained everything to the receptionist, who didn’t seem to care, and asked for some money back. Since then they’ve ignored my messages. I’ve now tried to get a refund via indeed and have photographic evidence, but they still say they did nothing wrong.

The staff made us feel so welcome. They were really friendly, efficient and happy to help with anything. The rooms were clean and good, and the convenient location and excellent service have made this my new go-to spot.

The beds were okay, but the TV looked like it was from the early 2000s. The shower gave maybe 30 seconds of lukewarm water before turning freezing cold. When I told reception, they said they’d sent someone up, who reported that it was working fine. Apparently I must have imagined the whole thing.
