Cedar Crest Inn

Cedar Crest Inn was a peaceful stop on my drive from Portland to Acadia, set among plenty of trees and greenery. The grounds are spacious, parking is ample, and everything was clean and well maintained. It’s good value for the money, too. You can walk to the town center or get there in a quick three-minute drive. I’d recommend it for a comfortable, pleasant stop in Camden.

The location is excellent, and the room size was reasonable. But the staff weren’t very helpful, usually giving only a simple “yes” or “no” when asked something. The room smelled bad and was terribly unclean, like it hadn’t been cleaned in ages. It looked as if the furniture had never been moved to clean underneath. There were bugs in the corners, and worst of all, my daughter got flea bites.

Staff were great, and they even made pumpkin coffee in the office in the morning. Our first night, though, was awful. The room was in a building at the back near a swamp, felt very damp, and smelled of mildew. I went to the office the next morning and they moved us to a beautiful room in another building for the next two nights. That one was nice and new, and we had a great stay there. I really think the first night should have been refunded.

The host and owner were really helpful with a suggestion for where to watch the sunrise. We had a spacious king room, hot water, and a comfortable bed. This roadside inn was also well placed for visiting the local lighthouses and Mt.Battie. Loved it.
