OYO Hotel Covington GA

The room was dirty, the bed was lumpy, there were no towels, and the service was terrible. A drunk person next door left beer cans and cat food in the parking lot, and the area felt unsafe. The check-in guy wasn't helpful, and he charged my card for a full night even though I'd already paid and booked through Hotels.com. I'm still trying to get my money back. The woman in the morning looked like she'd just been woken up. They should have a key drop if no one is there around the clock. This is the worst hotel I've stayed in, and we travel quite a bit. Save your money, sleeping in the car might be more comfortable. Don't stay here.

I liked how clean and cute the renovated rooms were, and I'd return if needed. It's also free of infestations, unlike some other area hotels. Prices may be more affordable depending on when and where you book. I found cigarette ash in the sink, but didn't think much of it because the room was so clean. There are bare wooden floors instead of carpet, which I think the hotel may still be planning to change. The rooms are small, and despite what the general OYO site says, there's no microwave or refrigerator, possibly because of the renovation. Cable TV isn't available yet, but Amazon Prime Video is provided. My one-night stay cost $70, plus a refundable $30 deposit due at check-in. I arrived late and asked the receptionist if I could check out later. There seemed to be a language barrier, and he sounded like he was following a script, though I think he was trying to say no. He was friendly overall, smiled, and brought me the shower curtain missing from my room.

The floor looked like it hadn't been cleaned in weeks, and the front desk guy was rude and unhelpful. My room was advertised with a fridge, but there wasn't one. The tub was so slippery I nearly fell just trying to shower, and the TV didn't work at all. There were loud, obnoxious drunks in the parking lot. I also left my daughter's shoes behind by accident, but there's no way to reach the hotel to get them back. Absolutely horrible. I won't return.

For $74 including taxes and fees, I got the basics I needed while in town for work: a hot shower and a bed, reasonably close to my job. The lady put me in a room near the office because I was a woman traveling alone, which I appreciated. The room was clean apart from the area around the toilet, and the mattress had a protective cover. I saw no signs of pests. There was some wear around the room, and it could use attention, but the price felt worth it.
