The breakfast was a letdown too. The sausage in the biscuits and gravy was really bad, and for over $100 a night we expected much more. The only bright spot was the kind woman stocking the breakfast area. We wouldn't choose this place again. We came to Fargo for our daughter's medical appointment and, living six hours away, booked a night at Comfort suites. My husband went in to check us in while I stayed with our toddler, but Anna at the desk wouldn't let him do it even though he was on the reservation. When I came inside to finish check-in, she was still rude and unprofessional. Our room was dirty and felt neglected. The furniture was stained, the floor was dirty, the mirror hadn't been cleaned, and the towel area was dusty and grimy. We didn't feel comfortable showering.

We gave this place another try because the rates were decent, but the second stay was worse. The new front desk attendant seemed untrained, which wasn't his fault, but he didn't take a card for incidentals and tried to keep my ID. The keys he made let us into the hotel but not our room, so we carried everything back downstairs. He remade them and they still failed. Then he came up to try himself, with no luck, and called the manager and maintenance while we waited in the lobby for nearly two hours. At about 3:30 in the morning, maintenance told us our room had been given to someone else and never entered in the system. The hotel was full, so we were told to leave, despite having paid online for the whole weekend and calling ahead to say we'd arrive late. This place is poorly managed and maintained. I'd spend a little more to stay somewhere else. We'd stayed once before, mainly for the price and easy interstate access. The staff were neither especially friendly nor unfriendly, just doing their jobs. The room looked unvacuumed, with sauce on the couch, crumbs on the end table, a stained shower floor, stains or mold on the curtain, and no hand soap or body wash. Breakfast was okay for a hotel, but nothing special.

The carpet was the nastiest I've ever seen in a hotel. Stains were all over the floor, bedding, curtains, lampshade, and pillows. I felt so gross I didn't want to use the shower either, since I couldn't feel comfortable using anything that should be sanitized regularly when everything else looked stained and dirty. For more than $100 a night, this was disgusting and a huge disappointment. I told the front desk woman, and she just said they were supposed to be getting new carpet. Why wait until after guests have paid to stay in this mess? Gross.

I've worked in hotels for over seven years and still do, and I've never seen such unprofessional handling of a payment. I wouldn't charge someone's card extra without explaining why or without them present. The poor communication and lack of a clear explanation were ridiculous. I booked four nights and was told at check-in that the room would be what I reserved online. I have two service dogs and filled out the paperwork, since the Choice Hotels website says service animals aren't charged. Josh at the front desk said my card was being charged $239. I accepted that and continued checking in, then went to the car for my things. While I was out, two more charges of $164 each appeared on my card. When I asked about them, he said he had charged me for the dogs. He wasn't thorough or polite and wouldn't take responsibility, only repeating that the manager would be in the morning. I'm now out $600 until I get a refund. My checkout receipt still showed a $164 balance, and Josh said he didn't know why. The night auditor didn't know either, but she was understanding and apologized on his behalf. It made no sense.

**Nov 29, 2025 update:** We had another good stay, though the hot tub wasn't working. It had no water and was roped off, with nothing about that on the website. I didn't call ahead to ask, but the disappointment means I'll double-check by phone before booking from now on. They were also updating rooms, at least on the fourth floor, and the crews kept the work quiet and respectful without equipment in the way. **July 2025:** Great staff and good value. I'll stay here again.
