Quality Inn

Jasmine welcomed my husband and me when we arrived late after driving off the Ohio Turnpike. We were worn out from a long day on the road after the holidays, and her warmth and helpfulness made us feel truly welcome. That kind of hospitality seems to be how this Quality Inn operates. We really appreciated it, well done to the team.

Our stay went well, and we’d come back. The rooms were clean and updated, and the housekeeper, whose name I can’t remember, was friendly and did a great job. Nate and Cindy at the front desk were also great, very helpful and welcoming. I took off a star because another female desk clerk wasn’t friendly and wouldn’t take the time to answer basic questions about rates and checkout. She also gave us the wrong breakfast time.

The room and bathroom both smelled awful, and the tub was gross. The hallways have a terrible odor too. It feels more like a motel, and the place seems to have been stuck in “permanent” construction for years. Believe the other reviews and stay somewhere else.

The desk staff were pleasant, and there’s plenty of room to park trucks. The place was quiet during my stay, and the room was clean enough, as long as you didn’t inspect the corners too closely. I might return if there were a restaurant nearby. Food is the big problem. The Subway in the gas station and the hotel’s BBQ place have both closed, and there’s little else nearby. There’s food a few miles down the divided four-lane road, but it’s not really walkable, so I fasted. A truck stop with a small convenience store is next door. This must have been the belle of the ball in the late 60s or early 70s. Now it seems mostly used by truck drivers and construction workers. The front half is closed off with signs saying it’s being restored, though comments from five years ago said the same thing. Maybe the work is just moving very slowly. The rooms feel typical of that era, with seven-foot ceilings, narrow doorways, and cast iron tubs with Marlite surrounds. The outside trash cans needed emptying. Four Loko cans, beer bottles with faded labels, used baby diapers, and a can of Vienna sausages sat in the parking lot throughout my stay. I can’t say whether the person doing the renovations is also supposed to clean out there.
