The pool was being repaired, which was disappointing, but being near the beach made that manageable. We dropped our bags in the cabin and went to the village, where we had a great time. The trouble started when we got back and pulled the bedding aside: there was blood on the pillows, sheets, floor, and curtains, plus trash bags in the bathroom that we hadn’t seen because the door was shut at check-in. The front desk did nothing and told us to call the owner, who was no help either. We booked three nights and demanded a refund. They gave the money back, then charged our debit card again the next morning. We stayed here last July, and on arrival it had seemed like a nice place. Stay away. Sleeping in your car would be better.

For a cheap place to sleep and shower in a good spot near the village, this worked out fine. It’s on the main road, and the rate was the best I found for my one night in Lake George. The room had AC, a TV, and a coffee maker. The furniture is old, and it’s neither fancy nor sparkling clean, but the place felt safe and quiet. There’s a quaint mom-and-pop feel, right down to the actual key instead of a card. The pool was out of order, though the beach is fairly close. I’d look elsewhere and pay four times as much if I wanted luxury. I’d been uncertain after reading some bad reviews, but it wasn’t bad at all.

The room felt hot and damp, with chemical and urine smells, and the bathroom reeked of mildew. Mold was on the shower curtain and even around the knobs, and the stall hadn’t been cleaned well or caulked properly. Its cramped layout meant we couldn’t sit on the toilet without banging our knees on the opposite wall, so we had to leave the door open. The new-looking floor was so grimy that our feet turned black. There were also dusty surfaces, hair, marks and drips on the walls, stains on every curtain, holes in the walls, and peeling ceiling paint. The pool, the place’s main attraction, was under repair when we arrived, and nobody had told us before booking. Other guests checking in were just as disappointed. The AC was old and missing a knob, so we borrowed one from the fan/cool setting to adjust the cooling. Wifi barely worked, and we had to use cell data. The old mattresses were noisy and crunchy, the linens and towels felt cheap, and the sheets had actual blood and urine stains. The place could be much cuter with some effort, but this was the worst place I’ve stayed and nowhere near worth the price. We had no other place to go, or we would’ve left.

After a problem at our previous motel, they fit our large group in at the last minute, which was a big help. One room had a toilet that didn’t work, but they quickly moved us to another room. The staff were pleasant and friendly, the price was good, and the strip is only a few minutes away. A decent stay.

It’s a bit noisy, though turning on the AC or fan drowned most of that out. There were other vacationing families, possibly a few people who live there regularly, and some bikers. Our porch was nice for watching fireworks through the trees last night. The floors and bathroom were acceptably clean overall, even though the walls had quite a few dirt marks. My spouse’s sheet had a blood spot about the size of a quarter, and our toilet is clogged as I write this. The floors were crooked, as someone mentioned in an earlier review. Each window had one curtain nailed in place, so opening them wasn’t an option. People who say the owner can’t speak English may not speak it well themselves, because I had no trouble communicating with her. It’s not a bad place if you know what to expect, and this is why I’d give it two stars.
