Vantage Point Inn Woodland Hills

This was our favorite hotel on our trip across Europe, and I wish we'd stayed longer. Breakfast in the small courtyard was peaceful and felt authentic, with fresh coffee and homemade jam. The staff also gave us personal suggestions for local restaurants and places to visit, and they were spot-on. The building has high ceilings, old wooden floors, and charming decor, so it felt like a boutique stay with character rather than a chain.

The staff were nice and efficient, and being near restaurants and shopping centers was a plus. There was also a little pool, about four feet deep, though the Jacuzzi wasn't working, which was a bummer. The room won't impress, so keep expectations modest. The beds were nice and the shower water was a good temperature, but the old carpet was stained and felt damp. The nightstand was old with part of its top broken, the showerhead was too low, and outlets weren't easy to reach. I had to work during my stay, and the Wi-Fi kept disconnecting. The pool, staff, and location were the redeeming parts.

After a long flight from the East Coast, I discovered my booking.com reservation hadn't reached the front desk. The gentleman there patiently waited 90 minutes while I worked it out with booking.com. The hotel was filling with walk-ins, but he held a room for me so I wouldn't be stranded at 10 at night. I was very impressed by the service.

I keep coming back because it's affordable and the customer service is over the top. The maids are super sweet, not rude like at most hotels, and the front desk is awesome. Patrick is the best, and they really know what they're doing. It's hard these days to find a hotel with A+ service. The breakfast muffins are soo yummy too.
